Little Girls sewing time!

Today my two darling little girls
Miss K (3 years old) and Miss J (4 years old)
had there first sewing lesson on Mummy's big machine.

They were told how the needle can
sew right through the finger if it is to close.
So we learnt that you keep your little fingers
out of the way of the needle.

With Mummy's help they made their first little project
a little pillow ( for Barbie),
they chose the fabric they wanted to use.
Then they stuffed them with fiber fill all by themselves.
Then Mummy sewed the seam closed
with them sitting on my knee of course...LOL.

Once they were finished they were so happy to
go and play and put Barbie to bed...he he
Now Mummy can have her machine back to finish something.
For now anyway, as I am sure the sewing 'Bug'
has bitten them and they will ask to use it again soon.
I don't mind at all, but we will need that extra machine
that I have bought for Christmas I am sure.
Do you have little people in your life that you can
help them to get the 'Bug'.....
I remember the lady that helped me get bitten!...LOL

just Bliss!

This arrived in the mail yesterday and I was so excited.

It's a Bliss jelly roll by Bonnie and Camille.
I purchased it from the lovely Corrie at her shop HERE
and she has another jelly roll left and a few charms.
Be quick though they will dissappear, they are so nice.
It is so fresh and gorgeously girly, with red, pinks, blues and greens.
Now to think of what to make with it.

Craft Fair pics!

Here is the stall that my friend Khris had at a local Craft fair.
It is only half of the stall ( sorry that its a bit blurry)
There were many different things to see and buy at the craft fair.
But Khris's stall looked the best and had the nicest fabrics!
As you can see my new quilt was hanging at the back of the stall
Khris is selling the patterns and also the kits.
I will have the pattern ready for sale next week if you are interested and also that means a giveaway.

Oh the smell of fresh Cinnamon Scrolls!

They are so delicious to taste as well...
I can't always stop at one...
I have been asked a few times for the recipe I use
So I am sharing it with you.
Just don't blame me if your waistline increases...he he
As it is hard to stop at one.

Cinnamon Scrolls!
Makes 24 scrolls.

Ingredients:
240ml of warmed milk ( 40 degrees C).
1/3 cup of butter.
220ml of water (room temp)
2 teaspoons of active dry yeast ( 10gm)
3/4 cup of white sugar.
2 eggs.
6 - 8 cups of plain flour ( all purpose)

Filling:
2 teaspoons of Cinnamon.
1 1/2 cups of soft dark brown sugar.
(combine dark brown sugar and cinnamon together)
1/3 cup of butter ( for spreading)

Method:
Warm the milk, then add the 1/3 cup butter
till it melts and then the water.
This should be lukewarm then.
In a large bowl combine milk, butter, water mix to
yeast, white sugar and eggs, lightly stir together.
add 2 cups of flour stir,
add another 2 cups of flour and stir again to combine.
It starts to get very thick here and you need to keep stirring.
Add remaining flour a little at a time...
( sometimes I have some left that will not combine
into mixture and other times I have none left over and use more)
It begins to resemble bread dough.
Once the dough pulls together turn onto a
lightly floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes.
It should not be to sticky but good enough to handle and knead.
Keep adding a little flour to your surface so it doesn't stick.
Divide dough into 2 pieces.
Roll each piece to a largish rectangle... 12" x 10".
Spread each rectangle with half the butter for filling
and half the Cinnamon sugar.
Start to roll up along the longest edge.
Dab a little water on the end so to stick it together.
Cut with a very sharp knife, 12 scrolls.
In a large lasagna dish, greased and lined with baking paper,
place 12 scrolls evenly spaced and cover with cling wrap.

Allow to rise in a warm place ( a top of the stove)
for about 1 hour or until doubled.

Place in a preheated oven ( 190 degrees C)
for about 25 minutes or until golden brown.

Frosting:
1 1/2 cups of icing sugar ( confectioners)
90 gms cream cheese( softened)
3 teaspoons of butter.
1 tsp of Vanilla essence.
2 tablespoons of milk.
Add sugar and then all other ingredients
combine with a fork to resemble thick icing.
Spread over warm Cinnamon scrolls.

Then make yourself a nice cup of tea or coffee a
and enjoy a scroll.
I always enjoy one with a coffee on my favorite plate.

Blushed!

I had so much fun playing with this 'Blush' fabric from Moda.
Not my normal color choice but it has grown on me...
I love circles at the moment. Can you tell?

I have almost finished the binding.... about two edges to go.
I almost made my deadline of Friday by a few hours.
Today I am taking this to my friend Khris.
She has a stall at the local craft fair
and has some kits made up for it.
So ' Blushed' patterns will be available
in my Etsy shop a litttle later tonight.
A great way to use a charm pack and some yardage.

Also I will be back in a few hours to share
my Cinnamon Scroll recipe... yum yum...
Great reason the bake this afternoon for the family.
they always love Cinnamon Scrolls.

Cuppy cakes anyone?

We've made Cuppy-cakes as my DD's call them,

with little icing roses on them.


They taste real good, especially when I had them
with my cup of tea and the girls had pretend tea..........Lol
I then got to play with this

A BLUSH charm pack and some yardage.....
and I will have a new quilt all finished by Friday.
If not friday early Saturday?
Back to sewing the borders and
sashings on now before I go to bed.

Oops..... before I forget I have had a few requests
for the recipe I use for Cinnamon Scrolls
I will share that too on Friday.

I Love Nutmeg!
My Mum used to sprinkle it on vanilla junket, as well as rice pudding.
I even use a little in my pork and veal canneloni!
-2nd would have to be cinnamon as I LURV donuts,
and I always use nutmeg and cinnamon in my boiled fruit cakes. :0) Sandy.

It is all very gorgeous Dawn - Love the new name.

My favourite spice is "Chocolate".
You may not of heard of it before but it is lovely
on just about anything. You can even dip your
finger in it after it has been melted. Glorious stuff !!

Not that often do I

get to have dinner with some lovely fellow quilt lovers.....

On the weekend my friend Judy was doing the Don't Look Now
weekend course at Hetties Patch ( one of my Favorite shops)
and on the Saturday night they went out for dinner...
I tagged along to yummy Indian and we had loads of laughs.....
So nice to catch up with Kellie,
since she has returned from Quilt Market in the USA,
and the other ladies too....
I purchased a little fabric and of course
I bought a couple of Kellie's new patterns that have just been released.
Worry Dolls....just fabulous to see in real life...

and Alphabet Soup.

I can't wait to find the time to make these....
The dolls for my girls bedroom wall
and Alphabet Soup for my nephew....

I promised a sneak peak at the surprise

in my Giveaway parcel.....
you can't see what it is ...LOL

Phew!!

I feel like I have had a busy busy week....
Doing what?..
I don't know really....
When I look around I feel like not much has been accomplished
but then again. I need to look back more often!
I have no ironing to do, the basket is empty.
My families washing is up to date...
I rearranged the girls bedroom.
I have changed out bedroom around...
Made muffins and little cakes with the girls twice this week...
made cinnamon buns for my photos and ate some...
yummy..
I needed a break now and again, right?

Had 4 trips to kinder back and forth to drop off and pick up..
Spent a morning at the kindy to help do computing with the children.
Played play dough, barbies, lego numerous times....
Cooked seven main meals and made lunches and snacks...
Had one morning with friends to chat and craft...
Made two trips to the doctors for check ups and
medication for my chest infection.
Made two trips to the Chiro, for me and the girls.
Wrote a tutorial pattern for a forum
Made a table runner and wrote the pattern for this..
Crisp Delight Table Centrepiece.

Quilted a customers king size quilt.
And then there's... sorry won't bore you anymore...
You get my drift...
I have been busy busy... phew!
